Carol K. Ricketts, nee Keck, 66, of Morton, Ill., born Oct. 21, 1949, in Belleville, Ill., passed away at 11:38 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2016, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill.
Carol attended Western Illinois University, where she majored in English Literature and graduated with high honors from Illinois State University, where she received her bachelor's degree in English, history and education. She was a member of the American Association of University Women.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where she was very active as a lector and participated in Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. She was a leader in the Just Faith program and participated in book study groups. She was a Eucharist minister to shut-ins.
Carol was an avid reader of literature and had a deep appreciation for arts, music and travel. Like her mother, Carol had a unique ability to make friends with anyone she met. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Dorothy, nee Soucy, Keck.
Surviving are two sons, Matt Ricketts (Amy-lynn Fischer) of El Cerrito, Calif., and Mike Ricketts of Chicago, Ill.; two grandchildren, Rebekah and Nathaniel Ricketts; four brothers, Henry (Ellen) Keck, David Keck and Paul Keck, all of Millstadt, Ill., and John Keck of Belleville, Ill.; and one sister, Diane Keck of St. Charles, Mo.
Memorials may be made to the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Building Fund; to the Benedictine Sisters of St. Mary Monastery or to the Nature Conservancy.

Funeral: A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2016, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Morton, with Father Mark DeSutter officiating. Cremation will be accorded after the Mass. Following the funeral Mass, friends may greet Carol's family in the church fellowship hall.
