Dr. Charles M. Dye, 77, of Maryville, Ill., born Sept. 14, 1938 in Irvington, Ky., passed away Friday, February 12, 2016, in Maryville, Ill.
Dr. Dye was a former Professor and Dean of the Graduate School at the University of Akron. He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Maryville, Ill., where he served as a liturgist, a greeter, a mission team member, a finance committee member, instructor for Disciple Class, and as a senior member advocate. He volunteered at the Maryville Food Pantry. He was a season ticket holder for the SIUE men's basketball team.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gail, whom he married June 6, 1958, in St. Louis, Mo.
Surviving are his beloved daughter, Catherine E. Dye of Maryville, Ill.; a son, Charles "Chuck" E. (Carol) Dye of O'Fallon, Ill.; his grandsons, Matthew, Christopher and Justin; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Service: A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, February 19, 2016, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Maryville, Ill., with a dinner to follow in the church fellowship hall.
