Retired U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Charles W. Watkins, 73, of Mascoutah, Ill., born Aug. 10, 1943, in Muncie, Ind., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, at Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.

Mr. Watkins was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in both Vietnam and the Persian Gulf. He was a member of the Scott VFW Post #4183, Belleville, Ill., and served as past Commander and past District Commander of the 14th District of the Illinois Veterans of Foreign Wars. Charles was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Lebanon, Ill. and Antioch Baptist Church, Muncie, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Maryellen, nee Smith, Watkins.

Surviving are his children, Camille K. Bates, Mark A. Watkins, and Rodney E. Watkins; five grandchildren, Jovan Watkins, Adam Watkins, Erica Watkins, Joshua Watkins, and Taylor Watkins; fiance, Judith Burns; one sister, Ellen K. Watkins; and two brothers, James S. Watkins, and Michael D. Watkins.

Visitation: Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2016, at the funeral home.

Visitation from 8 to 8:45 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2016 at the funeral home, with a funeral procession to leave at 8:45 for a 9:30 a.m. committal service with military honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
