Charlotte "Iona" Kirsch, nee Kennedy, 96, of Red Bud, Ill., born Jan. 7, 1919, in Ames, Ill., died Dec. 16, 2015, at Red Bud Regional Care Center in Red Bud, Ill.
Iona was a registered nurse. She graduated from Red Bud High School in 1936, and from St. Mary's School of Nursing in East St. Louis, Ill., in 1939. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a past member of the Mission Society and the Red Bud Senior Citizens.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Waldman, whom she married on July 6, 1937, and who died April 2, 1985; second husband, Lester Kirsch, whom she married on Dec. 27, 1986, and who died Oct. 22, 1987; parents, Charles and Amy, nee Henry, Kennedy; and a brother, Carl Kennedy.
Surviving are her daughters, Gail (Dennis) Scott of Jefferson, Ga., and Carol (Robert) Turner of Red Bud, Ill.; grandchildren, Kim (Steve) Gresham, Leslie (Mark) Duhaime, Amy (David Resney) Scott, and Ellen (Jeff) Schlueter; great-grandchildren, Oliva Poff, Byron Schlueter and Lyle Schlueter; and a sister-in-law, Regina Kennedy. Iona was an aunt, great-aunt, great-great-aunt, great-great-great-aunt, cousin and friend.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran School or Church.
Visitation: Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, at Koch-Liefer Funeral Home, Red Bud, Ill., and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Red Bud, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark Nebel and Rev. Russell Koen officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
