Claude Harris Jr., 72, of Granite City, Ill., born July 18, 1944, in Granite City passed away Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016, at Collinsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Collinsville, Ill.
Claude was a maintenance technician at South Western Illinois College for over 17 years and had worked for Nestle in Granite City, giving 17 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In his free time, Claude enjoyed watching movies and listening to music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Mamie, nee Summers, Harris Sr.; a sister, Doris June Stark; and his nephews, David Stark and Ricky Sanders.
He is survived by and will be missed by his sister, Janet and (Donald) Morris of Olive Branch, Miss.; his nephew, Larry Alan Hall; his niece, Nancy Lee Hall; great-nephew, Matthew Stark; great-niece, Elizabeth June Stark; and many other dear nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans.
Visitation: In celebration of Claude's life, friends may visit from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at noon Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastor Clint Wisdom officiating. Burial will follow with full military rites at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.
