Clinton Rogier

Clinton H. Rogier, 92, of Highland, Ill., born Dec. 18, 1919, in Highland, Ill., died at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2012, at Faith Countryside Homes/Faith Care Center, Highland, Ill.

Mr. Rogier was born in Sebastopol, Ill. (south-east of Highland). He grew up in rural Highland and graduated from Highland High School in 1937. Mr. Rogier's father, Charles, started the Rogier Insurance Agency in Highland in 1930 and after a short period of service with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Clinton joined the agency in January 1940. His father retired in 1952. Clint's son, Adrian, now runs the Highland agency in addition to the SIUA Insurance Agency in Edwardsville and Greenville. In 1979, Mr. Rogier became the CEO of Madison Mutual Insurance Company in Edwardsville. He served as president, chairman of the board and upon his retirement in 2008, he was named Chairman Emeritus. Clinton and his wife, Anna Lee moved to Edwardsville in 1979, returning to live their retirement in Highland in 2010. Clinton was a committed Christian with a deep faith that he willingly shared with others. He sang in his church and also at weddings and funerals. While rearing his family, they enjoyed raising horses, doing horseback, carriage, and sleigh rides together. For many years, Mr. and Mrs. Rogier wintered at homes in Arizona and then Alabama and they had a summer home in Michigan. Clinton loved his wife, Anna Lee, and his family with great devotion. He, also, loved his church and the organizations he supported giving 100% to everything that he participated in. The family celebrates his going home to be with his Lord.

Co., Edwardsville, Ill., since 2008, past chairman of the board and president of Madison Mutual Insurance Co. retiring as chairman 12/31/2004, director emeritus, former member of the board of director and member of five board committees, The Bank of Edwardsville, past chairman of Hudelson Baptist Children's Home, (now named One Hope United) board member since 1956, past president, past chairman and board member of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Foundation. He was also a SIUE Distinguished Service Award recipient, past chairman of Edwardsville YMCA Foundation Board, past treasurer and board member of University R&D Park, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, past board member of Greater Edwardsville Area Community Foundation, past president and board member Shurtleff Fund Corp. Springfield, Ill. (1962-1998), owner of Rogier Insurance Agency Highland, Ill. (1940-1979), past president of Tri-Ford Inc. and Affiliates Highland, Ill. (1969-1979), past president of Illinois Association of Mutual Insurance Companies, past president of Illinois Baptist State Convention, 25 year advisory board member of St. Joseph Hospital, Highland, Ill., past president of Highland Rotary Club (1955-1956), past district governor of Rotary District 6460 (1977-1978), Meritorious Service Award from Rotary International Foundation (1979), Distinguished Service Award from Rotary International Foundation (1982), Paul Harris Fellow and Major Donor (Level 5) Rotary Foundation recipient, 56+ years perfect Rotary attendance, charter member and member of First Baptist Church in Highland, Ill., (1949-1979) and (2010-2012) and former member of First Baptist Church in Edwardsville, Ill., (1979-2010).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles A. and Amelia F., nee DeMoulin, Rogier; daughter, Myra Lee Rogier Lesiak; brothers, Dwight C. Rogier and Max D. Rogier; sisters, Dorothy E. A. Malan and Mildred L. Lebegue; sister-in-law, Kathryn Lucille Smith Chapman; and infant brother-in-law, Ralph W. Smith.

Surviving are his wife, Anna Lee, nee Smith, Rogier whom he married on Sept. 7, 1941, in Benton, Ill.; children, Trudith Ann Rogier of Kalamazoo, Mich., Adrian Smith (Sharon) Rogier of Highland, Ill., and Beth Nanette (James) Rogier Childers of Lees Summit, Mo.; son-in-law, Charles J. Lesiak of Cedar Bluffs, Neb.; grandchildren, Matthew Charles (Melissa) Rogier of Highland, Ill., Robert Adrian (Jodi) Rogier of Harbor Springs, Mich., Suzanne Amelia (John) Rogier Horan of Cordova, Tenn., Matthew Howard Lesiak (twin) of Lincoln, Neb., Thomas Charles Lesiak (twin) of Omaha, Neb., and Benjamin Rogier Lesiak of Cedar Bluffs, Neb.; great-grandchildren, Abigail Margaret Rogier of Highland, Ill., Sophia Renee Rogier of Highland, Ill., Phoebe Ann Rogier of Highland, Ill., William Robert Rogier of Harbor Springs, Mich., Elizabeth Marie Rogier of Harbor Springs, Mich., and Matthew James Rogier of Harbor Springs, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral: Private funeral service will be Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Ill.,, with Rev. Sean Holloway officiating. Private interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, Ill.
