David J. Bauer, 73, of Belleville, Ill., born February 22, 1942, in Belleville, Ill., died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, at his home after a 20-year battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Mildred, nee Wellen, Bauer; and a brother, Ronald E. Bauer.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Carol J., nee Wittlich, Bauer, whom he married May 18, 1963; a daughter and two sons, Julie (John) Chaney of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Todd Bauer of Yarrow Point, Wash., and Craig (Krista) Bauer of Maryville, Ill.; two grandchildren, Jonteray Cain and Charlie Bauer; two brothers, William (Mary) Bauer of St. Libory, Ill., and Daniel (Deborah) Bauer of Venedy, Ill.; a sister, Sandra (Dan) Vertanen of Hayward, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Bauer of Belleville, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.
