Don Donley, 81, of Pontiac, Mo., formally of St. Louis, Mo., and Freeburg, Ill., passed away Monday, July 25, 2016, surrounded by his family in Springfield, Mo.
Don was born in St. Louis, Mo., and grew up in Freeburg, Ill., where he attended Freeburg Elementary School. He completed Western Military Academy and attended Carnegie Tech. He was a hard worker his entire life, starting with Donley Bindery, then opened his own businesses: Continental Graphics, Donley Press, Inc., International Color and DI Enterprises, working up to the day before he was admitted into the hospital. Don was an avid fisherman who loved nature. He traveled all over the country to fish. He loved spending time with his friends to share stories and fishing tales, which seemed to get better with every telling.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Charles "Don" and Jessie E., nee Tarr, Donley of Freeburg, Ill.; the mother of his children, Patricia, nee Hoyer, Donley; and a brother Dean Donley.
Surviving are his three children, Don Donley of Savannah, Ga., Dennis Donley of Melbourne, Fla., and Denise (Paul) Hangsleben of Belleville, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Danielle Donley, Raven (Aaron Heck), Jazmyn, Delani and Don Donley, Daniel (Courtney) and Eric (Laura) Simon; two great grandchildren, Lily Simon and Alani Heck; a brother, Dick Donley of Freeburg, Ill.; and a sister, Dona Nebelsick of Belleville, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral: Family and friends may join together for a Celebration of Life from 5 to 8 p.m. p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016, at Valentine's Restaurant, Freeburg, Ill. Another Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, at the Firehouse in Pontiac, Mo.
