Donald Bollman

Donald D. "Don" Bollman, 78, of Highland, Ill., born Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1937, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, at San Gabriel Memory Care in Highland, Ill.

Donald graduated from Collinsville High School in 1955. He worked 30 years for the telephone company, starting with Illinois Bell and retiring from Ameritech, working at Collinsville, Edwardsville and Greenville. He and his wife had an orchard from 1976 to 1993, south of Highland on Buckeye Road, growing apples, peaches, plums and nectarines. Don was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church, and a life member of Knights of Columbus 1580 in Highland, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Florence, nee Schuette, Bollman; and his twin brother, Ronald Bollman who died in 2009.

Surviving are his wife, Jo Ellen, nee Christ, Bollman, whom he married on Oct. 9, 1965, in East St. Louis, Ill.; a son, Robert A. "Bob" (Linda) Bollman of Highland, Ill.; daughter, Kathy S. (Maurice "Pappy") Rakers of Lebanon, Ill.; grandchild, Dylan W. Bollman of Highland, Ill.; sister, Jeanette (Ted) Hartwig of Collinsville, Ill.; and sister-in-law, Lois Bollman of Collinsville, Ill.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor's choice.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, Ill.



Funeral: Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016, at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Highland, Ill., with Rev. Father Pat G. Jakel officiating. Private Interment will be at Highland City Cemetery in Highland, Ill.
