Dr. Donald Thimsen|
Dr. Donald Svenne Thimsen, 60, of Charleston, W.Va., died suddenly at his home on May 17, 2016.
He was the son of the late Dr. Udell Svenne and Delores, nee Hauser, Thimsen of Belleville, Ill.
Dr. Thimsen was a graduate of Saint Louis University and St. Louis University School of Medicine. He was a practicing urological surgeon in Phoenix, Ariz., when he contracted Multiple Sclerosis (MS) 20 years ago, which rendered him legally blind. He went to obtain a master's degree in public health from Rutgers University.
At the time of his death Dr. Thimsen was a medical epidemiologist for the Environmental Division of State of West Virginia Department of Public Health.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his nephew, Chad Panzau.
Surviving are his sister, Dr. Kathleen Thimsen (Thomas Finan) of St Louis, Mo.; his nephew, Justin Schwemmer of Smithton, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.
