Donald E. Thompson, 83, of Belleville, Ill., born Thursday, July 21, 1932, in Alton, Ill., died Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill.

Donald worked as a sales director for Ralston Purina. He was a member of Saint Matthew United Methodist Church, Belleville Ill., where he was the past chairman of the Administrative Board, the Finance Committee, and the Pastor Parish Committee. He was a current member of Christian Concert Series and Parking Lot Ministry. He was also a member of Alton Chapter Order of DeMolay, Blue Honor Key, past master Councilor, and Degree of Chaviler. past member of St. Clair Lodge 24 A.F. & A.M, Scottish Rite Bodies, and Ainad Shrine.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, nee Hughson, Thompson; parents, Robert B. and Alice, nee Norville, Thompson; brother, Robert A. Thompson; and sister, Kathleen J. Burton.

Surviving are his children, Jeffery C. (Cindy) Thompson of Millstadt, Ill., Diana B. Thompson of Saint Louis, Mo., and Douglas E. Thompson of Belleville, Ill.; grandchildren, Matthew (Stephanie L.) Thompson, Stephanie E. (Brandon Thomas) Thompson, and Amanda C. (Anthony) Krivi; great-grandchildren, Isabella Rose Thompson, and Emileah Lynn Thompson; brother, Richard D. Thompson of Godfrey, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, Ill., and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Saint Matthew United Methodist Church in Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Saint Matthew United Methodist Church, with Rev. James Slone officiating. Interment will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Ill.
