Doris Lea Chiapelli, 91, of Glen Carbon, Ill., formerly of Collinsville, Ill., born June 23, 1924 in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away at 5:35 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Meridian Village Care Center in Glen Carbon, Ill.
Doris was a 1942 Collinsville High School graduate. She worked as a former bookkeeper for the Lammert's Furniture Store in St. Louis, Mo. A long-time member of St. John United Church of Christ in Collinsville, she was involved with many groups and activities at the church throughout the years. Doris was involved with Anderson Hospital Auxiliary for many years, and was a past member and volunteer for the Collinsville Junior Service Club. She enjoyed playing bridge, pinnacle, tennis and golfing.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Katherine, nee Leicht, Block; her husband, Geno Chiapelli, who passed away March 11, 2016; a daughter, Jeri Lynn Ulkus; and a sister, Dolores Kuhner, and brother-in-law, Fred Kuhner.
Surviving are her daughter, Debbie (Ken) Weil of Edwardsville, Ill.; two grandchildren, Bethany (Michael) Kutz and Jacob (Ashley) Ulkus; six great-grandchildren, Mason, Savannah and Emerson Kutz, Parker, Reese and Blake Ulkus; numerous nieces and nephews.
