Earl W. Duncan, 97, of Highland, Ill., born May 9, 1919, in Highland, Ill., died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, at Aviston Countryside Manor, Aviston, Ill., with his family by his side.
Earl was born to Walter and Viola, nee Vonland, Duncan, in Highland, Ill. He was raised by his grandparents, Alonzo and Mattie, nee Putnam, Duncan. On July 31, 1943, he married Bernice Buller at St. Dominic's Catholic Church, Breese, Ill.
He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, Ill., and Highland Knights of Columbus, Council 1580.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Duncan, Viola Clark; grandparents, Alonzo and Mattie Duncan; and a son-in-law, James Baker
Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Bernice, nee Buller, Duncan, whom he married July 31, 1943, at St. Dominic's Catholic Church, Breese, Ill.; children, Suzanne Baker of Breese, Ill., and David (Laurie) Duncan of Woodbridge, Va.; grandchildren, Stephen Meissner, Lisa (John) Cosenza, Dina (Jeff) Brother, Christopher (Kim) Meissner, Steven Duncan, and Joseph Duncan; great-grandchildren, Zach and Logan Meissner, Aaron and Abbey Cosenza, Alex and Faye Meissner.

Visitation: Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, Ill.
Funeral: Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at St. Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Pat Jakel, Pastor officiating. Private family burial at a later date at St. Dominic/St. Augusta Catholic Cemetery, Breese, Ill.
