Edith E. Ryan, 98, of Granite City, Ill., born Feb. 6, 1917, in Taylor Springs, Ill., passed away at 5:50 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at The Fountains in Granite City, Ill.
Edith retired in 1979 from the Granite City Treasurer's Office after 14 years of dedicated service as a secretary. She was a member of the Granite City Elkettes where she had served as a past president. Edith also enjoyed her time with the Butterfly Pinochle Card Club and attending the H.O.P.E. widow's luncheon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Dougherty and Maude, nee Hicks, Bohnenstiehl; a granddaughter, TerriLyn (Randell) Gasper; two sisters, Freda Seibold and Bertha Witter; and a brother, Harold Dougherty.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ann Randell of St. Louis, Mo., and Barbara Ryan of Philadelphia, Pa.; a son, John M. and (Sharon) Ryan of Granite City; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation: In celebration of her life, a memorial gathering will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at the funeral home.
