Edward M. Gula, 84, of Granite City, Ill., born June 4, 1931, went to Heaven's Grace on Saturday, April 30, 2016.
Edward was a U.S. Navy veteran proudly serving his country in the Korean Conflict. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years of dedicated service. Edward was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City, Ill., the P.A.W.V. (Polish American War Veterans) and the Polish Hall.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Theresa, nee Kowalczyk, Gula; a son, Thomas Edward Gula; parents, Peter and Josephine Gula; his brothers, Walter Gula, Stanley Gula and Michael "Mickey" Gula; and a sister, Lottie Meirink.
Surviving are his daughter, Rita (Jac) King of Glen Carbon, Ill.; granddaughter, Emily (Bradley) Rickert of Mt. Pleasant S.C.; grandson, Bryan King of Glen Carbon, Ill.; and his sister, Mary Kowalski of Swansea, Ill.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, Ill., and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday May 4, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday May 4, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Granite City, Ill., with Father Chris Comerford officiating. Burial will follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Fairview Heights, Ill., with military honors.
