Edward Dour

Edward L. Dour, 87, of Staunton, Ill., born Jan. 2, 1926, in East St. Louis, Ill., died at 7:24 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2013, at his residence.

Mr. Dour was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of the Staunton VFW Post No. 1241. He had worked for many years as a painter foreman at SIU Edwardsville, Ill. He was a member of Painters District Council No. 58 in Collinsville, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lena, nee Hale, Dour; and a brother, John Dour.

Surviving are his wife, Betty, nee Hannigan, Dour, whom he married on May 15, 1948; daughters, Lisa (Dave) Leonard of Collinsville, Ill., and Diane (Matt) Hartman of Ottawa, Ill.; three grandchildren, Nichole (Chris) Lang of Spring Lake, N.C., Matthew Hartman of Fayetteville, N.C., and Jason Hartman of Ottawa, Ill.; two great-grandchildren, Clara and Josie Lang, both of Spring Lake, N.C.; dear friend, Mary Kirkwood of Staunton, Ill.; two brothers, William Dour of Troy, Ill., and Junior Dour of Ohio; and his beloved cat, "Callie."

It always makes me sad to heart of the passing of a former East St Louisan,especially a veteran. I was born in East St Louis in 1933 & served in the US Army in Korea in 1954. my condolences to the family.
