Elizabeth "Betty" Schmedake, 96, of Granite City, Ill., born Sept. 13, 1919, in Ironwood, Mich., died Friday, Dec. 25, 2015, at Granite Nursing and Rehab, Granite City, Ill.
Mrs. Schmedake retired as a secretary at the Council of Contractor Associations after 23 years of service. She was a member and Elder of the First United Presbyterian Church and a member of the Gateway Regional Medical Center Volunteers, Granite City, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert R. Schmedake in 1954; her son, James "Jim" Schmedake; and her parents, William and Nelly, nee Williams, Nancarrow.
Surviving are her daughters, Bonnie (Richard) Kowalski, Richmond, Va., and Nancy (Ed) Miller of Camarillo, Calif.; grandchildren, Joe Schmedake, Tom Schmedake, Kathy Lubak, John Kowalski and Curt Miller; great-grandchildren, Luke Schmedake, Sam Schmedake, Nina Schmedake, Alex Lubak and Macy Lubak; and daughter-in-law, Barbara Schmedake. She will be missed by all that loved and knew her.

Visitation: Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at First United Presbyterian Church, Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at the church with Rev. Jeffery Welch officiating. Interment will be at St. John Cemetery, Granite City, Ill.
