Ella R. Doty, nee Harper, 72, of Lebanon, Ill., died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, at her residence, with her family by her side.
Ella was born Jan. 3, 1944, to Everett and Margie, nee Melton, Harper in Appleton, Ark. On March 26, 1977, she married Albert Doty in Belleville, Ill.
She worked as a medical transcriptionist for the hospital, and was a member of 1st United Methodist Church, Lebanon, Ill. Ella participated in and helped out at food pantry, Angel Tree and funeral luncheons. Any way she could serve the church, she was willing. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and made it a point to make as many sporting events of theirs as she could. She would always put her family before her own wants.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.
Surviving are her children, Alan (Tracy) Doty, Kevin (Candis) Doty, and Brian (Allyson) Doty; grandchildren, Raleigh, Connor, Wyatt, Kullen, Kyler, Maxwell Doty; sisters, Mary (Gary) Foland, Viva (John Dalton) Gravot; and close friends, Cathy Clayton and Luanne Holper.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Siteman Cancer Center.
Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, and 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at 1st United Methodist Church, Lebanon, Ill.
Funeral: Service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at 1st United Methodist Church with Rev. Kim Hagedorn, Pastor, officiating. Interment at a later date.
