Ellis Dale Miles, 78, of Granite City, Ill., born Feb. 19, 1938, in Dover, Tenn., passed away at 3:37 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, in Glen Carbon, Ill.
He retired in 2006 from Jones Motors after many years of dedicated service as a truck dispatcher. Following his retirement he owned and operated a trucking business. He enjoyed his days of gardening and fishing and was an avid bluegrass music fan. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen Kelly and Virginia Ethel, nee Thomason, Miles; four brothers, Morris Miles, Everett (Tina) Miles, Kenneth Miles and Ross Miles; and a sister-in-law, Kathy Ribley.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 58 years, Gail Elaine, nee Wilhelmy, Miles, whom he married June 21, 1958, in Corinth, Miss.; two sons, Frank (Amy) Miles of Glen Carbon, Ill., and Steve (Dana) Miles of Madison, Ill.; two grandchildren, Andrew Owen Miles and Sara Jane Miles; three sisters-in-law, Joann Miles of Granite City, Ill., Gwen Hubert of Piedmont, Mo., and Gerry (Jerry) Siner of Mitchell, Ill.; a brother-in-law, Dale (Jamie) Wilhelmy of Granite City, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews, other extended family and many friends.

Visitation: In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 201, 2016, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016, at Irwin Chapel with Rev. Tim Hall officiating. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery on Maryville Road, Granite City, Ill.
