Ethel Marie Dee, nee Bequeret, 95, of Belleville, Ill., born August 3, 1920, in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away Friday, May 6, 2016 in Freeburg, Ill.
Ethel married her high school sweetheart, Charles, in 1939, in Arkansas. Their love stood the test of war and time; after Charles' returned from World War II, they settled in the St. Louis area. Over the years, as the family grew, they owned and operated several family businesses in the local Belleville area; from filling stations and a movie theater, to soft serve ice cream stores. Ethel was dearly loved and will always remain in the hearts of her family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Otto Dee, Jr.; an infant son, Charles Robert Dee; her parents, Joseph and Viola, nee Sweeney, Bequeret; a brother; and four sisters.
Surviving are her daughter, Geri Dee-Melton of Glendale, Ariz.; her son, Robert "Bob" (Jeannie) Dee of Smithton, Ill.; stepson, Chris Dee of Belleville, Ill.; her seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildred; and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
