Florence E. "Flo" Dierkes, 87, of Germantown, Ill., born Dec. 20, 1928, in Bartelso, Ill., died Sunday July 10, 2016, at the Legacy Place, Breese, Ill.
Flo worked as a cashier at Joe Beer Grocery Store in Bartelso, Ill., for several years, and was a seamstress in Centralia, and Brueggemann Drapery in
Bartelso. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking, canning, reading, crafts, playing bingo and spending time with family. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, having traveled extensively in the United States including Hawaii and Alaska. Their travel adventures included many countries such as Canada, Italy, France, Ireland, Turkey, England and Germany
where they met relatives of both the Becker and Dierkes
families. Until the last year Flo and Paul spent many happy years in Germantown. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and Ladies Sodality in Germantown, Germantown American Legion Auxiliary Post 325, and past-
president for 15 years; the Clinton County Homemakers Extension, and a volunteer at Carlyle Health Care Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Cecilia, nee Jansen. Becker; her brothers, Bob Thien, Bill Becker, Ray Becker, Albert
"Tossie" Becker, and Herman Becker; her sisters, Johanna Haar, and Mary Ann Rakers; father-in- law and mother-in- law, John and Eugenia, nee Winter, Dierkes; brothers-in- law, Bill Haar, Eugene Dierkes, Clarence Dierkes, and Franklin Dierkes; sisters-in- law, Sylvia Becker, Mary Ann Becker, Laura Thien, Bernice Meyer, and Eugenia Dierkes.
Surviving are her husband, Paul Dierkes, whom she married June 7, 1955, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Bartelso, Ill.; her children, Sharon (Dale) Fiehler of Scottsdale, Ariz., Lester (Paula) Dierkes of Swansea, Ill., Janice (Roger) Chamberlain of Chicago, Ill., James (Shari) Dierkes of Clayton, Del.; eight grandchildren, Chad (fiance Stephanie Schmitt) Dierkes, Alex Dierkes, Drew (fiance Natasa Timotijevic) Dierkes, Jordan (Justin) Albrecht, Elizabeth Dierkes, Camille Dierkes, Ryan (Burcu) Fiehler, and Tagg (Joanna) Fiehler; four great-grandchildren, Ayla, Eray, Amber, and Ashley Fiehler; brothers and sisters, Lucille (Frank) Kampwerth of Carlyle, Ill., Donald Becker of Breese, Ill., Richard (Pat) Becker of Bartelso, Ill., Barbara (Robert) Robke of Germantown, Ill., Antoinette (George) Litzenburg of Carlyle, Ill.; brothers-in-law, Andy Rakers of Beckemeyer, Ill., Paul Meyer of Trenton, Ill.; and a sister-in- law, Esther Dierkes of Breese, Ill.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday July 12, 2016, and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at the Moss Funeral Home, Germantown, Ill.
The American Legion Auxiliary will hold services at 7 p.m. Tuesday during visitation at the funeral home.
Funeral: A Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday July 13, 2016, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Germantown, Ill., with Fr. James Buerster and Deacon Rich Bagby presiding. Interment will be in St. Boniface Cemetery.
