Floyd E. "Radio" Williams Sr., 73, of Granite City, Ill., born Feb. 25, 1943, in Granite City, Ill., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at his home with his family by his side.
Floyd was a long time crane operator at American Steel and served his country in the United States Navy. He never met a stranger and his friends and family gave him the nickname of "Radio" because of his enjoyment of conversation.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Juanita, nee Warden, Williams; two sons, Floyd E. Williams Jr. and Scott Williams Sr.; and a brother, Leroy Williams.
Surviving and missing him are his wife, Hannah, nee Hensler, Williams whom he married on Aug. 12, 1964; daughter, Shelly (Timothy) Smith of Florence, Ala.; grandchildren, Bridget Bain, Brooke Bain, Scott Williams Jr., Ethan Williams, Sara Smith, and Kaitlyn Smith; brother, James (Ann) Williams; and sister, Joyce Rodgers.
Memorials are suggested to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Visitation: In celebration of Floyd's life, friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Rd., Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral will be at noon Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016 at Irwin Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Belleville, Ill.
