Frederick Wiechert

Frederick J. Wiechert 86, of O'Fallon, Ill., born May 24, 1928, in Flora, Ill., passed away Friday, June 13, 2014, at Cedar Ridge Health Care in Lebanon Ill.

Fred was a signalman for the Terminal Railroad and vice-president of the Wiechert Seed Company in Nashville, Ill. He was a graduate of O'Fallon Township High School Class of 1946, O'Fallon Historical Society life member, 27 year veteran of the United States Army and member of the First United Methodist Church of O'Fallon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick William and Clara Louisa, nee Weast, Wiechert; a brother, Eugene Wiechert; and two sisters, Lena Atkenson and Dorothy Fargo

Surviving are his wife, Mary Wiechert; two sons, David and Debra Wiechert of Belleville, Ill., and Ken and Ellyn Wiechert of O'Fallon, Ill.; six grandchildren, Amanda Wiechert and Sean Murphy, Margaret "Meg" and Mark Boyko, Benjamin "Ben" and Laura Wiechert, Heidi Wiechert-Gieger and Lance Gieger, Carolyn and Mike Howk and Laura Wiechert; and seven great-grandchildren, Miles Boyko, Alexis Boyko, Willow Wiechert-Gieger, Lucas Howk, Matthew Howk, Evan Wiechert and Riley Wiechert.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday June 17, 2014, at Schildknecht Funeral Home, 301 S. Lincoln Ave., O'Fallon, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday June 18, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church, 504 E. U.S. 50 O'Fallon, Ill. 62269 with Rev. Ron Dickenson officiating. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, Ill.
