Gary A. Stein, 63, of Belleville, Ill., born June 28, 1952, in Belleville, Ill., died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Gary was a teacher at Waterloo Junior High School, Waterloo, Ill., for more than 30 years before his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick A. and Normalee, nee Rigdon, Stein; a brother, Frederick D. Stein; and two sisters-in-law, Joan Randolph-Green and Karen Stein.

Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Lois, nee Clendenin, Stein, whom he married on June 10, 1978; two sons and a daughter, Kevin (Katie) Stein, Kyle (Amy) Stein, and Kelly Stein (James Bowman); six grandchildren, Brady, Weston, and McKinley Stein, Kennedy and Audrey Stein, and Maiya Bowman; two brothers, Randy Stein, and William (Bobbie) Stein; two sisters-in-law, Tina Stein, and Pat (Terry) Westhoff; brother-in-law, Paul Clendenin; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Pauline Clendenin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral procession will leave at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, from the funeral home for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill., with Father Matthew Elie and Msgr. Jack McEvilly concelebrating. Entombment will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory Mausoleum, Belleville, Ill.
