Geno Chiapelli, 92, of Glen Carbon, Ill., formerly of Collinsville, Ill., born July 26, 1923 in West Frankfort, Ill., passed away at 5:25 p.m. on Friday, March 11, 2016 at Meridian Village Care Center in Glen Carbon, Ill.
Geno was a retired postal worker for many years. He was a longtime member of St. John United Church of Christ in Collinsville, Ill. He enjoyed golf, Cardinals baseball, and building houses. He was an Army Air Force veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernesto and Pellegrina, nee Serafini, Chiapelli; a daughter, Jeri Lynn Ulkus; and a brother, Joe Chiapelli.
Surviving are his wife, Doris Lea, nee Block, Chiapelli whom he married on May 1, 1944; a daughter, Debbie (Ken) Weil of Edwardsville, Ill.; two grandchildren, Bethany (Michael) Kutz and Jacob (Ashley) Ulkus; six great-grandchildren, Mason, Savannah, and Emerson Kutz, and Parker, Reese, and Blake Ulkus; and numerous nieces.

Funeral: A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the chapel with Rev. Tony Minear officiating.
