Harold Alexander
Harold Eugene Alexander, 63, of Centralia, Ill., born Feb. 23, 1941, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Sunday, Aug. 15, in Wamac, Ill.
Mr. Alexander moved to Centralia, Ill., in 1977 from Okawville, Ill. He bought Cody's Tavern and that is when it all began. After years of hard work, he became a prominent businessman and a great contributor to the community, as well as to the advancement of politics in Marion County and around the state of Illinois. Mr. Alexander was active in the Eagles and the Moose and was a retired Teamster. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Alexander loved his wife and children very much and will be greatly missed.
Harold married Josephine Cantrell and Clarene "Vicki" Deutchman and they later divorced.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Edwin and Edna Blanche, nee Harrison, Alexander; three brothers; and three sisters.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy, nee White, Alexander, whom he married Jan. 30, 1967; nine children, Ricky Alexander of Texas, Dora "Sis" Harvey of Coulterville, Ill., Robert Alexander, Tamara (Daniel) Alexander-Ashlock, Harold (Sarey) Alexander II, Kelly (Kelly) Alexander, Clifford "CJ" (Crystal) Alexander, Travis (Jodie) Alexander and Tarina Alexander, all of Centralia, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Brenda (Bruce) Miller of Fairbury, Ill.; and 24 grandchildren, Justin, Sarah, and Christina Alexander, SeArria and SeAnnia Alexander, Nicholas, Dennis and Kristopher Duff, Julie, Brianna and Adam Ashlock, Derek, Angelia, Cheyenne and Heather Alexander, Andrew and Zachary Alexander, Victoria Sledge, Jordan Gambill, Douglas and America Alexander and Taylor and Lucas Miller.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society; to the American Heart Association or to the Mooseheart, and will be received at the funeral home.

Visitation: Friends may call from Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, and from 7 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at Irvin Funeral Home, Centralia, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at Irvin Funeral Home Chapel, Centralia, Ill. Burial will be in Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta, Ill.
