Hazel McCarthy

Hazel C. McCarthy, nee Ruby, 97, of Valmeyer, Ill., born Dec. 9, 1917, in Stormlake, Iowa, died Dec. 5, 2015, in Waterloo, Ill.

Mrs. McCarthy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Valmeyer, Ill., and St. Ann Altar Sodality.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel C. McCarthy; parents, Alphonsus J. and Mary C., nee Harlin, Ruby; daughter-in-law, Irene, nee Schilling, McCarthy; and her sister, Pearl Schaper.

She is survived by her children, Allan McCarthy, Joan (Thomas) Smith, Patrick (Jane) McCarthy, and Gertie (Bob) Eshom; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Viola Whelan; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, and from 8 to 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, at Quernheim Funeral Home, Waterloo, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Valmeyer, Ill., with Father Felix Chukwuma officiating. Interment will be in Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Waterloo, Ill.
