Hazel Ruth, nee Littell, Erb, 91, of Marissa, Ill., born Dec. 16, 1924 in Mounds, Ill., died Friday, Sept. 30, 2016 at the New Athens Home for the Aged in New Athens, Ill.
Mrs. Erb graduated SIU-C in Carbondale, Ill. with a Bachelors Degree in Education and taught at the Marissa School District for 25 years. She was a member of the Marissa Presbyterian Church, a choir member and also the Joy Circle.
Ruth, as she went by, was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ethel, nee Taylor, Littell; husband, Willard Erb, whom she married on July 30, 1955 in Mounds, Ill., and who passed away on Nov. 22, 1978; daughter, Judith Erb who died in infancy; two brothers, Clyde and Jack Littell; and one sister, Ruby Wehrenberg.
Surviving are her daughter, Cindy (Raymond) Brinkmann of Monmouth, Ill.; a step-daughter, Shirley Wesselmann of Freeburg, Ill.; two grandchildren, Tim (Elizabeth Rupprecht) Brinkmann, and Christina (Steven) Kilgore; and three step-grandchildren.

Visitation: Friends may visit 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at the Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home, Marissa, Ill. and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016 at the Marissa Presbyterian Church, Marissa, Ill.
Funeral: Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016 the Marissa Presbyterian Church in Marissa, Ill. with Rev. James Ryan officiating. Burial will be held in the Marissa Township Cemetery in Marissa, Ill.
