Helen Marie Pendergrass Hoyt of Riverside, Texas, departed this life at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2016.
She was born in Alton, Ill., Jan. 19, 1932, to Arthur Francis Pendergrass and Alvina Grace Kohlmiller. Her father died in 1936, and her mother remarried in 1938 to Harold Clifton Lindley. Helen grew up in the Pierron and Pocahontas Townships of Illinois. On July 7, 1952, she married Charles Edward Hoyt Jr. in Woodriver, Ill., and began her life as a devoted Navy wife for the next 32 years, traveling around the U.S., Philippines, and Japan while raising her family.
Helen enjoyed sewing, cooking, archery, bowling, painting, and skeet shooting. She enjoyed making desserts such as cheesecake for the Thomas Lake Road Fire Department auctions. She was a devoted and loving wife of 64 years, a cherished mother to her children, and treasured sister.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, stepfather, and a brother, Clifton Lindley.
Surviving are her husband, Charles E. Hoyt Jr.; three children, Charles W. Hoyt (Sandy) of Bakersfield, Calif., Alisa A. Hoyt of Virginia Beach, Va., and Glenn A. Hoyt (Marilyn) of Bushnell, Ill.; two brothers, Ronald Lindley and Dale Lindley (Sharon), both of Pocahontas, Ill.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services: There will be no memorial service. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery, Exeter, Mo., at a later date.
