Henry Elwood Seaman, 78, of Maryville, Ill., born April 13, 1938, in Fort Smith, Ark., passed away at 2:35 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at his residence.
Henry was a retired railroad engineer with the Norfolk & Southern Railroad. He was also a Navy veteran and received the Good Conduct Medal for his service. In his early years he competed in horse shows, and he played and coached a men's slow-pitch softball team for many years. Over the last 25 years he loved camping at Cool Creek Resort, where he was loved and will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Elwood and Juanita, nee Webb, Seaman; a son, Charles Raymond Seaman; a brother, Raymond Seaman; and a sister, Tami Bates.
Surviving are his wife, Marian, nee Eickemyer, Seaman, whom he married on Dec. 14, 1957; two sons, Daryl (Becky) Seaman of Collinsville, Ill., and Raymond Seaman of Highland, Ill.; a daughter, Cheryl (Ron) Vallero of Maryville, Ill.; six grandchildren, Ashley (Nathan) Duschek, Aaron Vallero, Amanda, Taylor, Miranda, and Peyton Seaman; two great grandsons, Henry and Ryder Duschek; three sisters, Lynda (James) Leroy of Fairview Heights, Ill.; Judy (Tom) Ovitt of Springfield, Mo., and Vickie (James) Franke of Springfield, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
