Imogene "Teasy" Brown, nee Mason, 80, of Caseyville, Ill., born Jan. 22, 1936, in Shuqualak, Miss., passed from labor to reward on Saturday Sept. 10, 2016.
"Teasy," as she was affectionately known, worked for many years at the Neighborhood House in East St. Louis, Ill. She enjoyed being a part of mentoring young people and sharing her infectious laughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Inez Mason; her husband, Herman Brown; a brother, Lavada (Bede) Mason; three sisters, Marjorie Willis, Ernestine Carradine and Debbra Mason; her favorite aunt, Betty Conrad; and a host of other family members and friends.
Surviving are her dedicated son, Marlon Mason and daughter-in-law Deborah Wright-Mason of Shiloh, Ill.; a granddaughter, Monika S. Mason of Fairview Heights, Ill.; a grandson, Mason J. Black, also of Fairview Heights, Ill.; bonus granddaughters, Raekil' Wright Abdus-Salaam, Catrina D. Wright; bonus grandson, Maalik' J. Abdus-Salaam; and two brothers, Joseph "Sonny" Mason Jr. and Sylvester Mason, both of Belleville, Ill.
In Lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Imogene's name be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.
Services: Per Imogene's request, her body has been donated to science in search of a cure for cancer. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
