Jack Boyett

Jack Boyett, 78, of Mercedes, Texas, went to meet the Lord on Saturday, May 11, 2013. He was born Dec. 22, 1934, and raised in Galatia, Ill. He served in the United States Marines as a Sergeant and retired from the Illinois State Police in 1985 after 28 years of faithful service. Jack retired to the Missouri Ozarks and worked at Silver Dollar City Amusement Park in Branson, Mo., for 25 years. He lived in the Rio Grande Valley for the last 15 years and was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and the Weslaco Elks Lodge Post No. 2057 in Weslaco.

Jack enjoyed coaching his sons' Khourey league teams. He loved fishing, camping, gardening, flowers and was an avid golfer.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Joyce; a daughter, Lisa (Bud) Menzel; his sons, Chris (Shelly) Boyett and Patrick (Vickie) Boyett; and grandchildren, Tyler and Connor Menzel, Kellen, Jared and Kassie Boyett, Riley and Chase Boyett, and Rachael and Patrick Joseph Freehill.

Memorials may be made to the or the Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home, 301 E. Yuma, McAllen, Texas 78503.

Funeral: A private celebration of life is planned later this summer.
