Retired U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. James Edward Blacketter, 66, of Shiloh, Ill., born April 28, 1949, in Hannibal, Mo., died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill.
Senior Master Sgt. Blacketter served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 26 years. He was a veteran of both the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. James was very involved in the lives of his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Ernest Blacketter; and two brothers.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Lady, nee Salunga, Blacketter, whom he married on June 4, 1973; a daughter, Helaine (Gregg) Blomenkamp and their children, Haley, Luke, and Reid, of Freeburg, Ill.; two sons, James C. (Lisa) Blacketter and their children, Isabella, James, and Aubrey, of Smithton, Ill., and Derrick Balcketter of Shiloh, Ill.; his mother, Lila Louise, nee Graupman, Blacketter of Copperas Cove, Texas; three brothers; two sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at the funeral home with Rev. Gary Hinrichs officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
