James Eric Carter, 41, of Lebanon, Ill., born Feb. 6, 1973, in Belleville, Ill., died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis, Mo.
Mr. Carter was a U.S. Marine veteran. He was employed by Vandalia Bus Line in Caseyville, Ill. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in O'Fallon, Ill., and a NRA member.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James A. Carter Jr., and Edna Oden; and his maternal grandparents, Herman C. and Opal Smith.
Surviving are his parents, Pastor James A. and Cathy, nee Smith, Carter III; sister, Sharon (Dante) Parker of Victorville, Calif.; four nieces, Abigail (Sean) Kennedy, and Edith, Naomi and Lillian "Apple" Parker; and a nephew, Noah Parker. He was a dear nephew, cousin and friend to all.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Braun Family Funeral Home, Columbia, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at the funeral home with Pastor Jim A. Carter officiating. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
