James David Breitling, 57, of St. Petersburg, Fla., born June 1958 in Lincoln, Neb., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, at St. Anthony's Hospital, St. Petersburg, Fla.
Jim attended school and lived with his parents, sisters and brothers in Mascoutah, Ill., until he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1976. Following basic training he was assigned to Shepard Air Force Base, Texas, where he trained in HVAC and airport lighting systems. He was then assigned to Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., until he was honorably discharged in August 1980.
He was a business owner for several years, owning an HVAC business, Mr. Cool USA in New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Fort Lauderdale, Fla. areas. He had recently moved to St. Petersburg, Fla., where he continued to work in HVAC until his death.
Jim loved the ocean and was a surfer in his younger years. He loved to rehab homes and work on old cars, and loved his '58 Cadillac. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter and Ida Breitling, and Donald and Laura Miller; Uncle Walter Jr. and Aunt Violet Breitling; and his cousin, Nathan Breitling.
Surviving are his parents, Patrick and Marilyn Breitling; sisters, Gale Stipes, Jean Bergin, Vicki Breitling, and Lisa Campbell; brothers, Randy Breitling and Robert Breitling; Uncle Donald Miller and cousin, Laura Easley; and many friends.
Services: A memorial service to celebrate Jim's life will be held at a later date.
