James R. Markham, 70, of Belleville, Ill., born March 30, 1945, in Biggers, Ark., died Friday, February 12, 2016, in Belleville, Ill.
He was a member of VFW Post 1739, Belleville, Ill.; American Legion Post 1937;
Belleville, Ill., and the East Side Mardi Gras Association. James retired as a Senior Master Sgt., from the United States Air Force after 27 years of service, and was a Vietnam War veteran. He was very proud of his military career and serving our country.
James was preceded in death by his parents, George and Tommie, nee Stafford,
Markham; a son, James Markham; a grandchild, Shara Suggs; and two sisters, Dena Mitchell, and Nellie Markham.
Surviving are his loving children, John (Karen) Suggs III, Becky (Jeff) Clubb, Robert (Cherie) Markham, Jeff (Rocio) Markham, Jamie (Michael) Rose, Michael (Becky Schulte) Markham, and Michele (Jason) Glauber; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Harry (Jane) Markham, Rev. Sue Hampton, Betty Gallamore, Jo Ellen Bailey, Bill (Wilma) Markham, Pete (Terethia) Markham, and Grayson (Dollie) Markham; sisters; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family members, and friends.
Memorials in James' name may be made to American Legion Post 1937, Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: Services will be held at noon Thursday, February 18, 2016, at the funeral home, with Pastor Wilson Wickiser officiating.
Interment will be held in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St Louis, Mo.
