Janet B. Hunsche, 63, of rural Grantfork, Ill., born Oct. 17, 1952, in Highland, Ill., died Thursday, April 21, 2016, at her residence.
Janet grew up on the family farm north of Grantfork, Ill. She graduated from Highland High School in 1970 and immediately started working at SIU-Edwardsville. She retired in 2001 from the university where she was a benefits manager. Janet continued for seven years working part time. She and her husband established Hunsche Field at Glik Park in Highland. They also helped start the Highland Quarterback Club. They were season ticket holders of the St. Louis Rams for over 20 years and attended two Super Bowls. She enjoyed playing golf several times a week with friends. She also enjoyed bowling at Grantfork Bowl. Yard work and gardening were her pastimes. She and Ron enjoyed cruises to Hawaii and the Caribbean; they also had traveled to Las Vegas, Niagara Falls, Alaska, Panama Canal, Germany and London. There were also trips with girlfriends to Chicago, Lake of the Ozarks and Minneapolis. Janet was a very fine cook and she loved taking care of her family.
She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra, Ill., JOY Singers and SIU-E Retirees Association (past president).
She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard S. Niggli, who died Aug. 18, 2014.
Surviving are her husband, Ronald E. Hunsche, whom she married on April 15, 1972, at Grantfork United Church of Christ; a son, Brent A. Hunsche (fiancee, Tonya Langenhorst) of Alhambra, Ill.; a daughter, Kristin J. Hunsche (special friend, Scott Steffey) of Highland, Ill.; grandchild, Garrett A. Cates, Highland, Ill.; her mother, Lillian L., nee Steiner, (Gene) Daiber of Marine, Ill.; sisters, Barbara S. (Thomas) Eberhart of Highland, Ill., Sandra J. (Michael) Leitschuh of Highland, Ill., Ellen M. (Victor) Mitchell of Highland, Ill., and Carla A. (Mikeiel) Muniz of Marine, Ill.; and stepmother, Shirley M. Niggli, Highland, Ill.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, Ill., and from 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra, Ill., with Rev. Jerry Amiri and Rev. John Mindrup officiating. Interment will be at Salem Cemetery in Alhambra, Ill.
