Jeremiah Houk

Jeremiah Nathaniel Houk, 28, of Belleville, Ill., born Oct. 23, 1981, in Corona, Calif., died on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at his residence.

Born and raised as a young boy in Southern California, Jeremiah was the youngest of three children. He moved with his family when very young to Vancouver, Wash., where he lived until his family moved to Klamath Falls, Ore. There, he met his wife in junior high. Later, he moved with his family to Collinsville, Ill. He graduated from O'Fallon High School, then graduated from Ranken College, later went to SWIC and was in his last year at SIUE for his B.A. in Political Science. Jeremiah and Shelley were married in 2001 and lived with his family while they pursued their degrees. They moved into their first home in 2007 in Belleville, Ill., and settled in St. Louis, Mo., in 2009.

Jeremiah was passionate about music, a good brand of beer, juke boxes, history and political science, skate boarding, Spiderman and many other comics. Most of all, he was passionate about his friends, family and taking care of his wife.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Wendy L. Cook.

Surviving are his wife, Shelley, nee Rossiter, Houk; his parents, Kieth and Marcia, nee Reynolds, Houk of Collinsville, Ill.; a brother, Jason (Deborah) Houk of Lebanon, Ill.; his paternal grandmother, Margery Houk of Alta Loma, Calif.; father and mother-in-law, Pat and Laura Warren; nephew and niece, Josiah Cook and Hannah Cook, both of Collinsville, Ill.

Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 10, 2010, at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 10, 2010, at Kassly Mortuary Chapel, Fairview Heights, Ill. Cremation will follow services.
