Jerome E. "Jerry" Callahan, 83, of Cahokia, Ill., born Nov. 22, 1932, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Wednesday, June 22, 2016, in Cahokia, Ill.
Jerry was retired from Union Electric/Ameren. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, a retired member of the Cahokia Volunteer Fire Dept. and past president of the Cahokia Fire Protection District. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and formerly of St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, both of Cahokia, Ill.; the Men's Club of Holy Family Church; and Knights of Columbus Council 4596 of Cahokia, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Gail R. Callahan, nee Taake; his parents, Hubert and Mary Viola, nee Greenwell, Callahan; two brothers, Thomas and Joe Callahan; and two sisters, Pat Maxey and Barbara Huelsman.
Surviving are his two daughters, Joan (Jack) Edens of Cahokia, Ill., and Karen Callahan of Ballwin, Mo.; four sisters, Marie Chaudet of Columbia, Ill., Betty Meyer of Webster Groves, Mo., Renie (Wayne) Zeugin of St. Louis, Mo., and Mary (Mike) Young of Columbia, Ill.; and two grandsons, Chris (Angela Myers) Lehan and Cory Lehan. He was a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2016, at the funeral home, with Father Linus Umoren officiating.
