Obituary Condolences

Police found the body of a 22-year-old East St. Louis man on Saturday inside of a home that was being rehabbed in the 6000 block of Hill Street.

The victim was identified Jerome Walker of the 600 block of North Eighth Street in East St. Louis.

Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Jim Morrisey said police received a call about the body at about 3 p.m. Saturday.

"A friend went to check on the victim, who was staying at the property to prevent it from getting broken into. He found the victim inside of the residence that was being rehabbed. He had been shot to death. The friend called Washington Park Police and they called us," Morrisey said.

The property where Walker's body was found belonged to a company that buys and rehabs property.

Police have no suspects or motive for the murder, Morrisey said.

Evidence gathered at the scene leads police to believe the victim was shot inside of the residence where he was found, Morrisey said.
