Jerry C. "Corky" Dickerson, 84, of Granite City, born May 4, 1932 in Tamms, Ill., passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
Jerry gave 37 years of dedicated service to Roadway Express Trucking working on the loading docks and had worked at Smokey Joe's in Pontoon Beach as a bar tender and a custodian. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and in his free time, Jerry raised thoroughbred horses and enjoyed a good game of pool. He will be remembered for his kind heart and all the special times he shared with his family and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Nealis Ray and Bertha Elmia, nee McDaniel, Dickerson; wife of 47 years, M. Carmen (Ybarra) Dickerson; and seven of his brothers and sisters.
Surviving to miss him are his daughter; Michele M. Morgan of Granite City; his son, Roland E. and Jo Pfingsten of Shreveport, La.; his grandchildren, Paul M. and (Lee) Pfingsten, Derek C. and (Leah) Morgan, Eric Arzuagas, Dawn Arzuagas, Kasen Arzuagas; his great-grandchildren, Cooper Pfingsten, Madison Morgan; sisters, Agnes Dickerson, Lois Beach, Loretta Sue Notski, Linda Rother and numerous nieces, nephews and many other extended family members and friends.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City.
Funeral: In celebration of his life, services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 21, 2016 with Fr. Chris Comerford officiating at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville.
