Jess B. Traiteur, 86, of Prairie du Rocher, Ill., born March 21, 1929, in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away at 9:32 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015, at his residence.
He had worked for Commonfields of Cahokia Water Company in the Sewer Department for 31 years. He also owned and operated Traiteur's Market in Cahokia for 14 years.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Red Bud, Ill.; Knights of Columbus 4596, Cahokia, Ill., and Laborers Local 100, Caseyville, Ill.
He was an avid fisherman, loved to garden, and barbecuing for family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess C. and Lucille, nee DeBourge, Traiteur; and a brother, Gale "Moe" Traiteur.
Surviving are his wife, Theresa, nee Stetina, Traiteur of Prairie du Rocher, Ill., whom he married June 24, 1950, in Rock Creek, Mo.; six children, David (Dianne) Traiteur of Fults, Ill., Kenneth Traiteur of Prairie du Rocher, Ill., Thomas (Wanda Culpepper) Traiteur of Creal Springs, Ill., Connie (Harold) Kallas of Irvington, Ill., Dennis (Jewel) Traiteur of Red Bud, Ill., and Renee Traiteur of Irvington, Ill.; two brothers, Carl Traiteur of O'Fallon, Ill., and James Traiteur of Cahokia, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Lana (Jason) Chism, Ryan (Anita) Traiteur, Julie Traiteur, Dennis Traiteur Jr., Jacqueline (Eric) Groner, Victoria (Eric) Bowen and Matthew Kallas; six great- grandchildren, Elizabeth and Michael Chism, Nikolaus Traiteur, Knox Groner, and Marissah and Mariah Bowen; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation: Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2014, and from 8 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home, Red Bud, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Red Bud, Ill., with Monsignor Dennis Schaefer officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
