Joan S. Linhart, 85, of Granite City, Ill., born Jan. 7, 1931, in Granite City, Ill., passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Fountain View Manor, Granite City, Ill.
She was a dedicated and faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church where she enjoyed many years of volunteering and participating with the Ladies Club, and the funeral luncheon committee. She enjoyed sewing and tending to her husband, children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Gertie, nee Thurman, Schwendeman; a brother, Claude "Beau" Schwendeman; and a sister, Peggy Diefenbach.
Surviving are her husband, Carl J. Linhart, whom she married in October 1952, at the former Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granite City, Ill. ; a daughter and son-in- law, Carla and Jerry Petrillo of Granite City, Ill.; three sons and daughters-in- law, Greg and Colleen Linhart of Mokena, Ill., Mark and Tami Linhart of Granite City, Ill., and Patrick and Sherrie Linhart of Gillespie, Ill.; many grandchildren and great- grandchildren; a brother, Millard "Poots" Schwendeman of Granite City, Ill.; and other extended family and friends.

Visitation: In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2606 Washington Ave., Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016, at the church, with Father Jeff Holtman as celebrant.
