John A. Munro, 63, of Glen Carbon, Ill., born Monday, July 27, 1953, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, Ill.
John worked as a Craftman for Pipefitters Local 553 in Wood River. He was a member of East Lodge #504, AF&AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Ainad Shrine, Past Director of Ainad Drum Corps, long time soloist and instructor for Black Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, and an inspiration to all.
He was preceded in death by his mother, T. Yvonne Geshwender; and brother, Jerry L. Munro.
Surviving are his wife, Cristy S. nee Slagley, Munro of Glen Carbon, Ill.; two sons, Joel (Heather) Munro of O'Fallon, Ill., Colin (Elizabeth) Munro of Edwardsville, Ill.; father, Jimmy J. (Sharon) Munro of St. Louis, Mo.; brother, Jimmy Munro of Troy, Ill.; sister, Jane (Jess) Crum of Edwardsville, Ill.; four grandchildren, Jacob Munro, Aubrie Munro, Connor Munro, and Lucile Munro; brother-in-law, Carl (Debbie) Slagley; dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016 at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, Ill.
Services: A Drum Corps walk through will be held at 4:30 p.m. followed by a Masonic service and a rememberance service Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Kurrus Funeral Home, with Kurt Grosse officiating. Private family interment will be held.
