Joseph Andrew Casson, 22, of Belleville, Ill., born Tuesday, April 4, 1989, in Tuscon, Ariz., died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Joseph worked as a sonar man third class for the U.S. Navy. He was a petty officer serving on active duty attached to the USS Tennessee home ported in Kings Bay, Ga. He was awarded a Global War on Terror Medal, National Defense Medal and Navy Achievement Medal. He received his Boomer Dolphin pin and was an able bodied seaman. He attended the United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Melvin Wilburn; and paternal grandfather, David Casson Sr.
Surviving are his father, Frank J. (Audra) Casson of Yale, Okla.; mother, Janet M. Wilburn of Greenfield, Ind.; brother, William E. Casson of Yale, Okla.; sister, Elizabeth Casson of Greenfield, Ind.; maternal grandmother, Joan Wilburn of Belleville, Ill.; paternal grandmother, Jerri Casson of Belleville, Ill.; and dear aunts and uncles.

Funeral: Private family interment will be held Monday, April 2, 2012, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
