Joseph D. "Joe" Gamboa, 55, of Highland, Ill., born Nov. 20, 1960, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at his residence.
Joe grew up in Troy, Ill. He was a 1978 graduate of Triad High School. He had worked as a welder in East St. Louis for General Railroad. Later he worked in demolition for H&M Services. He then worked at U.S. Steel in Granite City as a crane operator. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family and Harley Davidson Motorcycles were his true passion. He was a member of U.S. Steel Local 1899-Granite City and H.O.G. (Harley-Davidson Owners Group).
He was preceded in death by her parents, Hipolito J. and Pauline C.M., nee Steele, Gamboa; and a sister, Diane Croteau.
Surviving are his wife, Karen Lynn, nee Sronce, Gamboa, whom he married on May 30, 1987, in Caseyville, Ill.; two sons, Joshua J. (Christine) Gamboa of Highland, Ill., and Specialist Jeremiah J. Gamboa U.S. Army of Fort Benning, Ga.; a granddaughter, Scarlet E. Gamboa of Highland, Ill.; two sisters, Paula Jo (Pat) Lindsey of Highland, Ill., and Brenda Mae (Jick) Lindsey of St. Jacob, Ill.; and nieces and nephews, Dennis (Katherine) Lindsey of Alhambra, Ill., Adam Croteau of Alhambra, Ill., Michelle (Terry) Snider of Highland, Ill., Dawn (Mike) Swift of St. Jacob, Ill., David Lindsey of Highland, Ill., Robin (Chad) Kelso of St. Jacob, Ill., and Penny (Scott) Wrigley of Alhambra, Ill.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home, Highland, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Gause officiating.
