Joseph John Mueller, 84, of Swansea, Ill., born Dec. 27, 1931, in Millstadt, Ill., died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Mr. Mueller was a machinist retired from Marsh Stencil Company, Belleville, Ill. He was a 55-year member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Lodge 313. He was a member of St. Henry's Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill. A U.S. Navy Korean War veteran, Joe was a member of VFW Belleville Post 1739, the USS Yorktown Association, and the Korean War Veterans Association. He was a former volunteer fireman with the Northwest Volunteer Fire Department.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Peter and Mildred Louise, nee Muskopf, Mueller; and a brother, Wilbur (Mae) Mueller.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Sharon E., nee Conner, Mueller, whom he married on Sept. 15, 1956, in Belleville, Ill.; two daughters and a son, Kim (David) Criss of New Baden, Ill., Marchelle (Andrew Sr.) Kassebaum of Litchfield, Ill., and Terry (Nancy Lynn) Mueller of Columbia, S.C.; four grandchildren, Andrea Copeland, Andrew Kassebaum Jr., Amanda Boswell, and Amy Kassebaum; and two great-grandchildren, Rhonan and Conner Copeland.

Visitation: Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill., and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, at St. Henry's Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill.
Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, at St. Henry's Catholic Church with Rev. Kenneth York officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
