Joseph William Richardson Sr., 95, of Sorento, Ill., born Saturday, July 9, 1921, in Marked Tree, Ark., died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016, at his home in Sorento, Ill.
Joseph was a World War II veteran combat engineer servicing in the Luzon New Guinea Campaigns and awarded two Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and Meritorious Service Unit Plaque. He worked at Armor Packing then General Motors where he retired from in 1979. Joseph enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Earl Richardson; mother, Syble Gertrude, nee Williams, Houser; daughter, Joetta; brothers, Earl Richardson, and James Richardson; sister, Pauline Patton; and grandson, Bill Richardson.
Surviving are his wife, Henrietta I., nee Gravot, Richardson; two sons, Joseph (Janet) Richardson Jr., of Sorento, Ill., and John (Brenda) Richardson of Belleville, Ill.; brother, Carl Eugene (Betty) Richardson of New Memphis, Ill.; six grandchildren, Joseph III, Jason, Tammy, John Jr., Don, and Darla; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marie Dehler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016, at Kurrus Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Wes Hart officiating. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, Ill.
