Josephine Averbeck

Josephine S. Averbeck, nee Luecking, 91, of St. Libory, Ill., born July 26, 1924 in Germantown, Ill., died Sunday, July 17, 2016, at Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, Ill.

She was a member of St. Liborius Catholic Church, St. Libory, Ill.; the Rosary Sodality; a 50 year member of Catholic Holy Family Society Council 37 of St. Libory; member and past-regent of Ave Maria Circle 980 Daughters of Isabella New Athens, Ill.; member and past-president of the St. Libory American Legion Auxiliary.

Along with her husband Henry, they raised and nurtured a family, ran a farm, and also remained active in the community. Her legacy will live on in her children and descendants.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry A. Averbeck whom she married in St. Libory, Ill., on Jan. 5, 1943, and who died May 7, 1998; three children, Leroy and Donald Averbeck, and Louise

Derringer; a son-in- law, Garry Derringer; her parents, Henry J. and Catherine, nee Bohnenkemper, Luecking, Sr.; 11 brothers and sisters, Joe (Annie) Luecking, Sr., Mary (Louis) Mueller, Ben (Rose) Luecking, Johanna (Al) Beer, Veronica (Jake) Pruett, Lawrence (Lydia) Luecking, Alvina (George) Weyerich, George (Wilhemenia) Luecking, Alphonse (Dorothy) Luecking, Henry (Rita) Luecking, Ferdinand (Armella) Luecking; and two brothers-in- law, Raymond Stoecklin, and Vincent Trentman.

Surviving are six children, James (Jackie R.) Averbeck of Waterloo, Ill., Joan Derringer of Ellis Grove, Ill., David (Karen) Averbeck of Marissa, Ill., Mark (Diane) Averbeck

of New Minden, Ill., Brenda (Stephen) Greaney of Lively Grove, Ill., and Leon (Brenda)

Averbeck of Lively Grove, Ill.; a son-in- law, Larry Derringer; a daughter-in- law, Lynn Averbeck; 24 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and expecting two more; three great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2016, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2016, at St. Liborius Catholic Church, St. Libory, Ill.

Funeral: A Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2016, at St. Liborius

Catholic Church, with Father Paul Wienhoff officiating. Burial will be in St. Liborius Catholic Cemetery, St. Libory, Ill.
