Joyce L. Furtkamp, 80, of Lebanon, Ill., born Nov. 12, 1935, in Livingston, Ill., passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Joyce was a Registered Nurse for many years with many area hospitals, and also volunteered her services with Hospice of Southern Illinois. Joyce will be remembered by grandchildren, extended
family, and neighbors for her countless hours of entertainment and playful activities during their early years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellsworth and Gladys, nee Bishop, Best; and a sister, Merlyne Owens.
Surviving are her husband, James "Jim" Furtkamp, whom she married on Sept. 6, 1958, in Staunton, Ill.; three children, Douglas (Lisa) Furtkamp of Ozark, Mo., Darryl Furtkamp of Andover, N.H., and Deanna (Scott) Weiler of Ashland, Va.; seven grandchildren, Mitchell, Travis and Tanner Furtkamp, Emily and Mark Weiler, and William and
Lillian Furtkamp; her siblings, Lois (Ramsae) Stricker of Highland, Ill., Vara (David) Yochum of Troy, Ill., and Harlan (Mary) Best of Staunton, Ill.; and a brother-in-law, Robert Owens of The Villages, Fla.

Visitation: Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2016, at First United Methodist Church, Lebanon, Ill.
Service: A Memorial Service to honor Joyce will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2016, at the church. Her remains will be donated to Washington University School of Medicine.
